Art has existed in the world since the Palaeolithic times. It was probably first associated with magic, as millenia later it also became closely associated with religion. After the Mesolithic, the end of the Ice Age, this kind of art disappeared. It was replaced in the agricultural Neolithic Age with new craft skills. The Bronze and Iron Ages brought further craft refinements, particularly in metal working. During these early stages, such craftwork was purely utilitarian, as in weapons and tools. But in the later stages it progressed to become decoration, ornament, and jewellery. Certain styles, movements and motifs then changed with the centuries in forms of drawings, paintings, sculptures and more.
