This is a mid-level category. Profiles should be added to the narrowest category possible, but may be placed here when further information is not known. See How to Categorize.

Use the appropriate category for the Monarch's reign in which they were created.

The rank of Knight Bachelor is a part of the British honours system, being the lowest rank of Knighthood. It is not an Order of Chivalry (see Category: British Isles and Ireland Orders of Chivalry).

The rank of Knight Bachelor is awarded only to men; there is no direct equivalent for women (women are created Dames Commander of the Order of the British Empire, the next higher Order of Chivalry). As with all knighthoods, the rank is personal and not inherited by any sons which the holder may have.

The Knighthood does not entitle the holder to post-nominal letters.
In some texts "Kt" is used for Knights Bachelor, but neither Kt nor Knt should be included in the prefix or suffix field of WikiTree profiles.
Knights Bachelor should have Sir in the prefix field and [[Category: Knights Bachelor, ''appropriate monarch'' creation]] included in the text of their profile.

Note: Use of "Knight" as a title is discussed in this G2G post.
