This category is an alphabetical listing of all ships in order by name. If you are looking for a ship, and only know the name, not when it was built or when it sailed, you can try looking for it here.
If you know what year a ship was launched, you can also look for it in Ships By Decade Of Launch. If you know when the ship sailed, you can also look for it in Sailings By Decade.
In order to sort ships by name, when you link a ship to this category, use the following format:
[[Category:Ships by Name|Shipname (####)]]
where "Shipname" is the name of the ship without any prefix like S.S., R.M.S., etc., and "####" is the year that ship was launched. That way, all the ships will be sorted by name, rather than by prefix, and, where there are several ships which have the same name, they will be sorted chronologically.
