The United States Navy (USN) is the naval warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven uniformed services of the United States. It operates 288 ships in active service and more than 3,700 aircraft.

• Ideally this would be an upper level roll up of other categories.

While we want to place profiles into more specific categories of the ship, unit, base, etc where the person served, in many cases all that is known initially from an obituary, gravestone, photo, etc is that they were in the Navy, so they can be placed here. Upon further research, if more information is discovered, move them to that category.
