Watten is a small village in the Highlands of Scotland located along the road between Thurso and Wick in Caithness.

Watten takes its name from the nearby loch, Loch Watten. Loch Watten is the largest lake in Caithness. The name appears to come from the Old Norse Vatn, meaning water or lake, and the loch is famous for its brown trout fishing.

Watten was the birthplace of Alexander Bain, the inventor of a regulated electric clock and the fax machine.
