Teresa was born in Lorain, Ohio where her other other siblings, including Judy, were born. She considered her childhood home the one at 331 Krotzer Avenue in Luckey, Ohio.[1] Her first pet was a dog named Sandy.
Sandy |
She dearly loved Sandy and Sandy was a major part of her childhood. Much of her care was entrusted to her beloved older sister, Judy.

Her school was a brick building

She was part of a special group of children who took art classes at the Toledo Museum of Art. [2]

After she left her childhood home, she went to Toledo, Ohio where she stayed at the YWCA and obtained her first job in the bus station.

Teresa left Cleveland to marry her first husband, Wm. Paul Smith, on 19 Aug 1968. They began life together in Landover, Maryland.
Her first son, Paul, was born while she lived in Landover. She was the epitome of a new mother and everything about her son was "perfect." He never cried and used to let her sleep till noon--a great luxury.
Her second son, Ray, was born a little over a year later. He had been infected at birth with a severe intestinal virus while in the hospital. Even though he suffered from this virus for over a year, the following three years he was constantly sick due to his immune system being compromised. Fortunately, Teresa had a wonderful pediatrician, Dr. Wolf.
In 1973 Teresa and her husband, Paul Smith, divorced. After the divorce Teresa continued to live in Landover, Maryland and worked at various jobs.
She met her second husband, Gene Hames, and they were married on 17 Apr 1977[3] in a house they were renovating in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Unfortunately, this marriage was a "rebound" marriage and ended five years later in 1982 while they were living in Naples, Collier County, Florida.
Teresa then moved back to the Washington, DC area. Her happiest time there was spent at George Washington University.
After her children graduated from Kennedy High School [4] she lived a few more years in Silver Spring, Maryland and enjoyed very much spending time with her friends Charles and Lyliane Kramer, among many others. She still remains in close contact with almost all of these friends.
She had an opportunity to move to New York City and work as Assistant Editor for the publication Glasnost News & Review[5]. This is where she met the love of her life and third husband, Misha Kazachkov. They have been married over 30 years,[6] are retired, and now living in Massachusetts.

So very sorry for my tardy response. I truly appreciate your continued patience.
You are correct in removing me from the England Project.
My heart is so, so willing; but, unfortunately, the rest of me is quite ill. I don't know, nor do my doctors, when I might be able to return. I suppose I should put up a notice about not being active, but I'm simply too weak to post it today.
I would like to express my deep appreciation to you and the project team for all you've done for me. You are all quite amazing and I'm really in awe of everyone's expertise and willingness to help. Here's wishing you all the best till I can return!
I sent you a message a while ago on behalf of the England Project Leaders and have yet to heard back from you. I hope you are well.
One of the requirements of membership in the England Project is that you respond to the six-monthly check-ins.
If I dont hear from you in the next week or so Ill assume you no longer wish to be in the project and go ahead and remove you. You would, of course, be most welcome to rejoin at any time via the G2G sign-up post.
Best wishes,
Susie :-)
The England Project Leaders check-in with the members every six months to see how people are getting on. How are you doing? I notice you've dropped out of the Orphan Trail. Is there a particular reason for this? I'd love to have your feedback.
One requirement for membership in the project is that you contribute to a team at least once every six months. Are you willing to rejoin the Trail or would you prefer to leave the project for now and focus on other things? If you do the latter you'd be most welcome to rejoin later on.
Please respond to me via e-mail.
Many thanks,
Susie, England Project Leader :-)
We sent you a message about a week ago about the England Project but have not yet heard back from you. If we don't hear from you by this time next week we'll assume you no longer wish to be in the project.
Many thanks,
Susie, Gillian, Wendy and Amy
On behalf of the England Project Leaders we're carrying out a check-in to see how all the members are doing and taking the opportunity to thank you for all your hard work over the past six months. We have been so impressed with the way everyone has rallied together and gone the extra mile to make this one of the most dedicated, productive and friendly communities on WikiTree. What are you enjoying most about being in the project? What would you like to see improved or changed? Would you like to continue in the project moving forwards?
We're looking forward to hearing back from you,
Susie, Gillian, Wendy and Amy
It's been a year since the England Project was re-ignited. Thank you for being part of this exciting journey!
We really appreciate all your contributions and hard work :)
We would love some feedback from you please. :)
Are you happy contributing with the team you are on, or would you like a change, or even add to another team?
If you are not already on a team, which one would you like to be on?
If you are not sure what is available, just ask, we are here to help :)
Are you still happy contributing to the England Project?
Please PM me through my profile and let me know how you are doing :)
Thank you :)
Wendy Leader England Project.
