Dr. H. P. Credille, an old and honored citizen of Commerce, died at his home in this city Monday morning and was buried under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. Lodge<ref>Abbreviation for [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_Order_of_Odd_Fellows Independent Order of Odd Fellows]</ref> in the City cemetery, Tuesday afternoon at 3:30. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gibson and Pierce at the Methodist Church of which he was a member. Dr. Credille had lived in the community in which he died for 35 years. He was born in the state of Georgia in 1848, making him at the time of his death 62 years of age. He came to Texas in 1854, and practiced his profession continuously until a few years ago, when ill health forced him to retire. Dr. Credille is survived by a widow, three sons, David (Biddle), James, and Barney, and one daughter, Miss Bessie. His popularity was attested by the large concourse of friends and acquaintances who gathered to pay the last sad tribute to his remains.
