Biography

Genealogically Defined

Richard was born about 1770 and baptised on the 18th April 1770 at All Saints, Sisted, Essex, England, the son of Thomas Green (husbandman) and Mary Green[1].

On the 6th November 1792, Richard married Sarah Constable at All Saints, Stisted, Essex, England.[2].

In October 1837 "On behalf of Richard Green, it is certified that he lives at Stisted; he is recommended by Mr. Baines and has lived and worked on Boultwood's Farm, at Stisted, as an occasional horsekeeper and labourer for 42 years without intermission, and has borne a good character for honesty, sobriety, and general conduct."[3]

In 1841, Richard won the £2 first prize in the Hinkford Agricultural and Conservative Association, for the Labourers and servants category, for having worked at Boultwoods Farm (owned by Mr. Bains) for 47 years[4].

In 1847 Richard was living near Kentish Farm, Stisted, Essex.

He passed away aged 73-78 years on the 3rd April 1847, from mortification of the foot and his death was registered by Mary Ardley (grand-daughter)[5]. He was buried on the 7th April 1847 at All Saints, Stisted, Essex, England[6].
