Genealogically Defined

Jeremiah Harrington[1]was born on April 19, 1742 [1][2], in Lexington, Middlesex, Massachusetts. He was the third son of Henry and Sarah (Laughton) Harrington[1]. In Lexington, on December 21, 1769[3][4], he married Sarah Locke[5], daughter of Joseph and Sarah ( ) Locke[6][7]. They lived in Lexington, Massachusetts, and had 4 children[5][4]:

  1. Joseph, b. February 16, 1770[8]
  2. Benjamin, b. May 4, 1772[8]
  3. Sally, b. October 3, 1774 (no record of birth found)
  4. Jonathan (probably named for Jeremiah's brother, who died on Lexington Common on April 19, 1775), b. October 27, 1777[8]

Jeremiah served in the French War in 1762[5][4], and was a member of Captain John Parker's Company of Minute Men[9]. He was not present when the Company met the British on the Common on April 19, 1775. Jeremiah is a D.A.R. Patriot Ancestor (DAR #A051427). He died December 11, 1818[5][4]in Lexington, Middlesex, Massachusetts.
