Sue, thanks for merging the Leites-1 and 2 profiles of my mother. I am new to this and probably mistakenly created the same profile twice. Since my family are basically nobodies with a thin family tree, may I ask how you became interested, as there seem to be no geographical, hereditary, or religious connections. The only thing that comes to mind is that my wife is a descendant by marriage from the ill-fated Catherine Howard! Thanks. -- Ira Allen

Hi Sue, thanks for working on Stevens-13105. However, a few notes on the complications of Belgian genealogy :)

1. Flemish women have never traditionally taken on the surnames of their husbands. Complication: in French records, or when families moved to other countries, then they are sometimes recorded with their husband's surnames. 2. Belgium did not exist until 1830. Before that Rillaar was for some decades part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and before that it was part of the French Empire, and before that it was part of the Austrian Netherlands.

Thanks Sue. If you want to read the best and most comprehensive info on the Allens, the ALLEN PATRILINEAGE PROJECT is a wonderful site. Apparently old Richard Allen had a LEGION of sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons who all used the same names. John Robb, the webmaster, and a large group of researchers have posted all kinds of records there and backed up their genealogies with DNA. Unfortunately for me, Drury Allen 2582 has not been placed yet and I haven't located a male descendant to test. Still looking though.
