Biography

Frank was born in 1855. He is the son of Oliver LaMere and Catherine Armel. According to his son Oliver in the 1910 census (family 304), he was born in "French Canada." However, in the 1900 census, he himself reports that he was born in Minnesota, which is where the tribe was in 1855. His son John's Death Certificate places his birth precisely at Long Prairie where the Winnebago had their reservation at the time.

“[Oliver LaMere] had three sons, Moses, Joseph and Frank, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Mary. Elizabeth was the mother of Angel Decora. Frank Lamere went to Nebraska with the tribe. He had five sons, Oliver, Joseph, Charles, John and Peter.” (Jipson, 256-257)

The 1925 census (#520) shows him living near his son. His birth date is given as 1855, and his status is a widower.
