Mary Cruickshanks Lambie was born at 8.30 am, on the 20th of June 1913, and baptised in home, on the 4th of August, at Haughend Farm,[1] Alyth, Perthshire, Scotland, the second child and first daughter of David Lambie and Ann Ewing Cruickshanks Johnston.[2]
Mary was educated at schools in Auchrannie, Ruthven, Glen Isla, Cortachy, Lintrathen and Purvarvie. She first started work at Cortachy Castle, the home of Lord Ogilvy, as an upstairs maid.

Mary travelled to Australia, aged 14 years, on the 12th of June 1928, with her whole family, on board the Hobson's Bay, arriving on the 1st of August, and eventually arriving at Ayr, North Queensland.[3]
Mary first worked at the Delta Hotel as a cleaner/maid.

Mary Cruickshanks Lambie met and married Robert Urquhart at Ayr, Queensland, Australia on the 11th of January 1935,[4][5] with Ian David born the same year and Delma Anne two years later.

Mary was an accomplished Dressmaker and also made her own curtains.
Mary Urquhart passed away at the Home Hill Hospital on the 7th of February 2009, [6]and due to the North Queensland weather[7], Mary was finally laid to rest on the 13th of March when her ashes were placed with Robert.[8]
