Katherine (Marbury) Scott was a child of the Rev. Francis Marbury (or Merbury) by his second wife Bridget Dryden.[1][2] The exact date of her birth is unclear, but she was likely born about 1610[3][4] as her father died in 1611. Rhode Island records state that she was aged 70 at her 1687 death.[5]
Marriage
Katherine married on 7 June 1632 in Berkhampstead (now spelt Berkhamsted), Hertfordshire, Richard Scott,[1][2][6] the son of Edward Scott of Glemsford, Suffolk.[7] They had at least two sons and four daughters:
James Scott, baptized 23 March 1633/4 at Berkhampstead, Hertfordshire[8] and was living at Providence in 1650;[7] not named by Richardson
John Scott,[1][2] married Rebecca ______; John was born about 1637[7] or 1640 and died in 1677[3]
Mary Scott, wife of Christopher Holder;[1][2] Mary was born about 1640[7] and died 17 October 1665[3]
Joseph Scott, born about 1642, living in London in 1666-1667, no further record;[7] not named by Richardson
Patience Scott, wife of Henry Beere;[1][2] Patience was born about 1644[7] or 1648 and died after 1707[3]
Hannah Scott, wife of Gov. Walter Clarke;[1][2] Hannah was born about 1646[7] or 1642 and died 24 July 1681[3]
Richard Scott,[1][2][3] Anderson discusses this son in the comments section of his father's biography, adding "We do not find the evidence sufficient to include a son Richard in this family".[7]
Life in New England
The Scott family immigrated to New England about 1634, but they were not passengers aboard the Griffin as some researchers have asserted.[7] They first settled at Boston, Massachusetts and removed to Providence, Rhode Island[2] in 1638.[7] Richard Scott is said to have been the first Quaker in Providence.[3]
The Scott family were early followers of Roger Williams in Providence, but withdrew from his sect and became Quakers. Katherine had been present in Boston when Christopher Holder had his right ear cut off for the crime of being a Quaker. Katherine protested against "this barbarity" and was put in prison for two months and then publicly flogged "ten stripes with a three-corded whip".[3][9]
It appears that Katherine returned to England with her daughter Mary and Christopher Holder in 1659. Mary married Christopher in Gloucestershire in September 1660.[7]
Death
Katherine died in Newport, Rhode Island, 2 May 1687,[1][2][3] supposedly at the age 70.[4][5][7] Her husband predeceased her, dying before 1 July 1679,[7] probably at Providence.
Research Notes
Baptism
It is unlikely but possible that she was the same Katherine Marbury, daughter of Francis, who was christened 28 April 1625 at St Mary Woolnoth with St Mary Woolchurch Haw, London, England.[10]
Disputed Son
Edward Scott, Scott-2073 has previously been shown as a child of Katherine. Edward's profile is unsourced, and there appears to be no evidence for the relationship.

Joseph is mentioned in Anderson's Great Migration series. The (now-reinstated) sourcing - viewable behind a NEHGS paywall - is on his profile. The same source identifies a son James, born at Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire on 23 March 1633/4, living in Providence, Rhode Island in 1650, with no further record found. Anderson gives no other information. I suggest both children be added to the bio, with a statement that Anderson lists these two other children in addition to those listed by Richardson.
My 10th Great Grandmother and my 1st Gateway Ancestor discovery:
John is the son of Marlene Grace (Dietz) Repinski
2. Marlene is the daughter of Raymond Harold Dietz
3. Raymond is the son of Henry Chester Dietz
4. Henry is the son of Eleanor May (Brown) Dietz [unknown confidence]
5. Eleanor is the daughter of Mary E (Smith) Brown [unknown confidence]
6. Mary is the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Smith

9. Elizabeth is the daughter of Esther (Scott) Sayles
10. Esther is the daughter of Sylvanus Scott
11. Sylvanus is the son of John Scott
12. John is the son of Katherine (Marbury) Scott
This Makes Katherine the 10th Great Grandmother of John Repinski
Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry (Vol 1, p 436) shows Katherine, daughter of Rev. Francis & Bridget (Dryden) Marbury as married "at Berkhampstead, Hertfordshire 7 June 1632 Richard Scott". Scott's birth/parents not mentioned. Richard died "Providence, Rhode Island in 1679/80. His widow, Katherine, died at Newport, Rhode Island 2 May 1687."
An entry on the same page for her sister Anne notes that Anne was baptized 20 July 1591. Perhaps a misreading of Richardson resulted in Katherine's marriage date being Anne's baptism date?
Katherine died 1687 age 70 (RI Vital Records) her birth should be changed to about 1617 not 1610.
????? This profile says they were married 1591 according to Richardson. A typo I hope. Can someone check Richardson. Anderson says marriage 7 June 1632
The Richard Scott Born 1605 was not Katherine's Husband and needs to be Removed from this Profile This Richard is a First Cousin to Katherine's Husband Richard Scott who was born 1607

Anne baptized (at Alford, Lincolnshire) 20 July 1591 & married William Hutchinson, Gent. on 9 August 1612.
Katherine married 7 June 1632 Richards Scott (still no birth info for Richard).

There are two Richard Scotts? One b. 1605 and one 1607, both in Berkhamstead. And from what I see here Anderson may have them conflated.
