Hi Lindsay,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

Over the past year, Australia Project members have been more active on Discord. We're finding it a fun way to communicate as a project. If you're not on Discord yet, here's some information - Help:Discord. If you are already on the WikiTree Discord server, let us know, and we can send you an invite link to the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our chat channels are located. It's a great way to communicate with other members on your project team/s, or for any general questions.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Thank you for adding detail for Maurice East’s birth and death details. You had removed Chichester from his death place, so I have reinserted it. South Mundham is only a very tiny village and is in Chichester.

Hello Lindsay,

It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!

If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.

We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us!

Hi Lindsay,

I wrote to you recently as part of the England Project's six-monthly check-in with our project members. I haven't heard back from you. I hope you are well.

If you could please drop me a quick note to confirm whether you are still interested in the project and wish to remain an active member, that would be very helpful.

If we do not hear from you within the next 2 weeks, we will assume you are no longer active in the England Project and remove you from our list of project members. You would be most welcome to re-apply to join the project at a later time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Many thanks!

Kia ora Lindsay,

I want to thank-you again for the work you did on my family tree! I had hit a brick wall with the Parsons side of my Mum's family, and your work cleared up that brick wall for me:) I could also compare and contrast what you'd found and placed into Wiki-Tree with what Ancestry's algorithims were telling me, but I am pleased to say that human input is always a smidge more accurate. Thanks again, it's made a difference to my family!

Hi Lindsay,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Lizzie, Amy, Joan England Project Leaders

Hi Lizzie,

All is good here. I am generally working on unsourced &/or unconnected profiles for Sussex / Kent & NSW/Australia. I'm happy in the Kent / Sussex teams, Chris does a particularly good job at communicating with the Sussex team. I'm not a big user of the Google Group, I scan the daily update for items that stand out but I get information overload with what I have already. I've not heard of the Discord Server. Hi Lindsay,

Just a point about the 1871 census details you added to Richard Killick. Where you are going for an eccentric spelling of the names in a census return remember to check carefully the enumerators handwriting conventions. Compare this one's florid K in Killick with his equally florid H in Head. The e of Head is a separate letter and not the curl at the end of the H. There is only the curl of the K with no following e. Compare the h in Richard with the h at the end of your Keillich. The h in Richard is more open whereas what is the enumerators version of k is flatter with a final horizontal stroke. Probably it's best to bear in mind that the enumerator is generally trying to get it right and if we think they have got it wrong it might be down to our perception of what we are seeing rather than an actual error.

All the best,

David.

Thanks David, Apologies for the poor spelling. I didn't have access to the original census, I was using the transcript cut and pasted from FamilySearch (which is not behind a paywall). I was just getting enough information together to join up some unconnected profiles.

Hello Lindsay,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out a check-in to see how you are going in the project and especially to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles on WikiTree. We really value your participation.

We currently don't seem to have you down for any particular team. My apologies if that is an error in our records. Please could you get back to me by private message to let me know where you would like to participate. You can check on the Australia Project page to see what options there are. The Profile Improvers team might suit you, or one of the Colony/State teams.

It would also be great to hear any feedback and any suggestions that you have to improve the project. On a practical note, if you are a member of the google group, are you receiving messages ok? Also you might consider adding Australia as one of the tags you are following on the G2G.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Lindsay for your work adding sources to Charlotte Ann (Wiles) Walker (1875-).

Although she links to a family member at marriage I had never heard of her until I came to recent family tree work.

I am working on an extended family tree of over 3000 names imported by GEDCOM and hoping to get them all securely attached, sourced and linked within the next couple of years. This is a considerable encouragement.

Hi Lindsay,

Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. Thank you for all your work on English Profiles and in particular your work in Sussex Team.

These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice, or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the Project Leaders for everything you do.

I fixed the correct category for Edmund Stradling and Joan Dauntsey. It should be Marden, Wiltshire according to Douglas Richardson's Royal Ancestry, Vol II, Page 398. Thank you for pointing that out Lindsay.

Hi Lindsay. Thanks for pointing out the error about Marden on Dauntsey-6's profile. I cannot make the slightest change to the profile as I am not pre-1500 certified. If you are, feel free to correct the erroneous link to the wrong Marden. Or to make a request on the G2g forum here on wikitree.

Are you happy to stay in your current team and the project as a whole? Are there any other teams you'd like to join? What are we doing well, and what would you like to see us doing differently moving forwards?

Hi Lindsay

As I have recently taken-on the role as the NSW Team Leader I thought I would just drop a quick note to thank you and to seek your input.

Firstly, I would love to know if there are any areas that you have an interest in looking at. Some of them might already be listed on the Free Space Page: Australia, Project Management - Proposed New Topics.

Secondly, I would love to know how you would prefer to be engaged and kept up-to-date. I would prefer to keep this as simple as possible and generating minimal emails etc. (if you’re like me you already receive too many!). Whatever your preferences are would be fine.

Thanks in advance

Hi

Thank You for the information on Faye Seamons nee Hamblin. I think that the best approach is to add you to her trusted list so that you can then link her to the rest of your Hamblin family. If you send me a trusted list request I will action it. You are the one with the Hamblin family information, and I cannot locate any sources to verify your information.
