Hi Carleton

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mac_Donald-9

Winifred's maiden name was Smith rather than MacDonald, as per the sources on her profile. She is currently connected to the wrong parents.

Could you please detach her from her current parents and amend her Last Name at Birth; or alternatively add me to her Trusted List so I can make the changes myself? I sent you a Trusted List request last week.

Thanks Steve

Hello Carleton

Have you had a chance to review the Trusted List request for Jennifer Lash (Lash-174) which I sent on 10 September?

Hi Proctor,

I'm reviewing the list of members of the Native Americans Project and just wanted to check in to see if you're still interested in participating in the project. Please let me know.

Hi Carleton

I have been doing some work on the profile for Margaret (Norton) Rice and notice that her "Last Name at Birth" needs to be changed. Please could you do this, or else give me access as manager so that I can complete the profile. It is this one: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Rice-7421 Many thanks, Fionnuala

Hi Carleton,

I noticed that you have a numbers of merges that need your attention. Your Watchlist has 5098 profiles. This is very large. Our systems are designed to handle 5,000. Contributing to more than 5,000 profiles is great (the community thanks you for it!) but don't feel you have to keep so many on your Watchlist. Despite the terminology, there is no shame in "orphaning" Open profiles. :-) This invites others to share responsibility. Use the Bulk Trusted List changes tool to remove yourself from some profiles. Let me know if you need some help.

Hi Carleton,

I'm cleaning up categories associated with the Native Americans project. The category "Wampanoag People" is a duplicate if you will, of "Wampanoag". Therefore please replace the first with the second.

Also the category is meant for people who were members of the Wampanoag; if that's true for you, great.

Thanks-- hope you and yours are well.

Hi Carleton,

While working on sourcing some other profiles, I came across a profile for Elizabeth Ann Proctor (1856-1897) that you have adopted. I think that Elizabeth Ann (Copley) Procter (1856-) might be the same person; although, if she is, it means that after she died her husband Henry Goodswen (1861-1910) married her daughter (his step-daughter). Could you take a look and see if you agree that the two profiles should be merged?

Thanks, Jeremy

Hi Carleton,

I need you to remove the category/template "Irish Roots" from your profile. It is used only on profiles managed by the Ireland Project.

I have a tremendous amount of info on Dr. Ulysses Ashford Rice and his descendants, down to me. He was my Great Great Great Grandfather. I've researched it pretty hard and am now moving my way up the chain.

Welcome to Wiki-Tree !

I encourage you to post here on wikitree, as much of your info that you have, on all of your Rice, and ALL of your other family and ancestors as well. If you know of any of Ulysses' ancestors beyond his parents, and also, of other lines of his descendants, besides your own line, that would be great, and much appreciated.

I adopted his profile because he was a Rice and had no Profile Manager, and i was/am hoping to find a connection between his Rice line and my Rice line. -I'd be happy to share his Managership with you if you want.

Also, do you know if you're descended from Edmund Rice (i am), who came to Massachusetts from England in 1638 ? His Profile is here on wikitree as Rice-52. His descendancy chart is there with many of his descendants. Maybe one of your ancestors is connected to Edmund Rice through one of Ulysses' descendants, or yet undiscovered ancestors ?

And, when did the spelling of your last name change from Rice to Rhys ?

Hi Carleton

Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. It normally takes 24 hours from adding a test, or adding a new ancestor, or ancestor’s descendant, for WikiTree to display your name and test results on your ancestors and their descendants’ profiles for potential cousins to compare results with.

Have fun!

Wendy ~ WikiTree Greeter

Hi Carlton,

THanks for your response! Categories that are incorrectly named need to be deleted or renamed; there is no "work in progress" with that. :-) Otherwise, if it is correctly named, sure, it can be a work in progress. One thing to remember is that unless it is a personal category (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Personal_Categories), it is in place for all of WikiTree to use, so adding your own information to it isn't really proper. I found the categories you added because I have a list of "wanted" (the red-linked categories) categories that I work on once or twice a day. These categories were added to WikiTree by users but not added into the category structure. It is part of my job as a Categorization leader to see that they are added. I thank you for your work! Natalie

Please see: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Categorization

Also, when creating a category, you should add text explaining the use, not "I went to school here." Other WT'ers may use the category. :-) So,something like "This category is for profiles of persons who attended this school" is better.

There is a list of special characters that are never in category names. We also spell things out and do not use both the acronyms and the spelled out word. So, everything you added with Category: (XXX) Whatever the Name is incorrect. I have moved some to deletion already. You will see EditBot deleting them in the next day or so. Natalie

Also: Category: Leland and Gray Union High School, Townshend, Vermont is the correct one. The "&" cannot be used in category names.

Category help:

You need only ONE category for Nauset, and the one set up by the Native American project is Category: Nauset Peoples. Please delete the rest. Same for Wampanoag: you need only Category: Wampanoag People. Please delete Category:Pennsylvania since it is not to hold profiles. (Use the county of Pennsylvania instead). Please delete Category:The United States of America. (it's incorrect and the correct one is Top Level). THat's just the beginning of what is wrong here. The project templates are for project managed profiles, so you should delete ALL of these from your page. Natalie, Categorization

P.S. I have a little experience with WikiTree categorisation and if you like I can help you fix up the categories & templates on your page! :)
Hi can you tell me what the red categories are all about? Many are incorrectly named.

Schools other than colleges are named Category:School, City, Town. Lower Bucks County Technical School is also incorrect (does not need the initials, and needs the city/town). Quaker should be Quakers (Friend in not the name, so you should delete that). Unitarian is also incorrect. See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Category_Names. Thanks, Natalie, Categorization
