Karen was born in the 1950's to John Patrick Rollet (1926 - 2014) and Carol Jean (Schei) Rollet (1927 - 2006).

I married Jeff Lorenz on July 19, 1986. We have two children.

Personal genealogy notes:

My grandmother came from Sweden when she was two. I am trying to add what I know about her side of the family from a tree that was handed down to me from one of her relatives in Sweden. It goes back to 1600's. I just need to add everybody and verify all the dates with sources. BIG JOB.

I enjoy being a greeter, data doctor, arborist, sourcerer, and participating in the challenges.

I would like to continue with the Unknowns team as part of the Profile Improvement project. I have had much success in finding LNAB for Unknowns but I haven't documented how many I have done over the last few months. I was trying to determine #'s to give you since your last note a week ago, but life has gotten in the way. Here is what I have found using the Tops application.
  1. February 8 merged
  2. January 15 merged
  3. December 6 merged (1 proposed, not merged yet)
  4. November 18 merged
  5. October 21 merged
  6. September 9 merged
  7. August 30 merged

I can give you other months if you want them.

Thank you Karen for your warm welcome and for graciously offering me your help with questions. I'm very new at this, having begun work on my tree at ancestry having received my DNA results from ancestry. I've yet to upload my results to GEDmatch as I'm unsure how to do so though I do have an account. I'd like to post my tree here so it can be viewed by others who may share matches with me. I'm unsure as to how to do that. I have over 2000 ancestors on my tree at this point. I started earlier this year. I'm aware of some glaring errors and am struggling to correct them.

Thank you again Karen.

Thanks Karen for steering me in the right direction. I was struggling to find the links on the android site.
Thank you for connecting me. I'm new to Wiki. My daughter and I have gone through our family tree that my Aunt so graciously sent to me when I was in college. We are thinking of doing a DNA test mainly to connect my grandpa's and dad's side. In the mean time I have my mom's side from my Aunt going back 3 generations after John Alden and Priscilla Mullins. I will keep adding to the family tree with a few memories of spending time with my grandparents and other information.

Hi Karen,

I wanted to thank you for greeting me so well and with this being the best advice for being new: "Take your time, keep track of sources and ask questions. Check here for tips. " only there should be links there... one more thing to learn!

Not that I managed to follow your advice about sources. I 'm just remembering how to get around WikiTree. again, thanks Beth

Hello Carl,

I noticed you created some of your family members without noticing that profiles already existed for them on Wikitree. You should receive some merge requests in your email. Please approve the merges and if the other profile manager has approved them as well, you can merge them.

Thank you for reaching out to me so I can start my Wiki Tree. I have my tree on ancestry, family search and 23 & me but this site is a little different and I need to try to transfer my 5 generations until this site so that I have an accurate family tree. Then I can begin getting cited sources and facts. You're wonderful! Thanks again.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm a little confused about some issues, like identifying my DNA registration number with Ancestry.com so I can include the data there on my WikiTree. I'm certain, though, there's lots of instructional material on YouTube and other places. Getting registered was a little confusing for me, so I'll have to go back and edit, as I come to understand it better. Thanks very much, and I look forward to learning from WikiTree, while perhaps becoming able to contribute at some point. - Ted Lehmann

It's nice to feel wellcomed

I am new to Wikitree. A friend added a tree for me but as it turned out there was 2 trees for me; Carmack-619 and Layton-2737. They were suppose to get merged, but not sure if they are because I am on a page where I just added my dad. Also it has Sister of Carmack(Layton) Carmack half. This person is me, same as Profile manager. I have been doing genealogy a very long time but new to wikitree. What can Be done to fix this mess. If my trees are merged what are they merged to?
posted by Lois (Layton) Carmack
The profile Numbers you gave me in your message have been merged into Layton-2737 as they should be. What is the profile number of the Unlisted profile that shows that it is your half sister? I cannot see the profile ID for other unlisted profiles. Do you have a living sister that either you or your friend added? Wikitree shows siblings as half when both parents are not added.

Thank you for the welcome - I'm sure I'll have tons of questions and very much appreciate any help.

Bonnie ~

Thanks so much for the responses that I received. I am so appreciative of any help I can get on Glover Reynolds.

First let me explain that I tested my uncle as part of the Reynolds DNA project. With the help of one of the administrators and the BigY test we have made great progress so far. I am trying to find out where GLOVER Reynolds fits in and nail down his relationship to the others.

My ancestor: Claiborne (Clayburn) Reynolds born abt 1790 in Virginia died 1847 Whitley County, Kentucky.

BigYDNA results point to his father being Daniel Reynolds born abt 1770 and Daniel's father being John, born 1753 in Virginia.

Results seem to confirm that a Tarlton Reynolds was another son of John. That would make Daniel and Tarlton brothers. So Tarlton would be Claibourne's uncle. We also have records that prove that Tarlton traveled with John.

Although we don't have any DNA for them yet Family History identifies other sons of Daniel as Bradley, born in Tennessee in 1804 and William.

The 1815 Knox County, Kentucky lists Claiborne GLOVER, Tarlton and William. Daniel had sold his land in 1810. We believe it is him who shows up in Brown County, Indiana, Bartholomew Township in 1811 as an early setter. We believe he took Bradley with him. Glover mostly stayed in the Tennessee area until the 1830 census when he shows up in Lagrange County, Indiana along with Bradley. They are both there again in 1840. The 1850 census does not find Glover. There is an Elizabeth Reynolds age 70 who is living with her son John. She may be Glover's widow. Bradley is found in Clinton County, Illinois on the 1850 census.

Another researcher is trying to run down a descendant of William to be tested. I am trying to find one for Glover and Bradley. None of our family histories mention Glover so he is somewhat of a mystery. I am assuming that Glover must be a family name carried down, perhaps his mother's maiden name. His age in 1840, (60-69), may make him a brother of Daniel.

It has taken years to get to this point in unraveling these relationships. We could not have done it without the BigY DNA.

I have never used WikiTree but I am leaving no stone unturned. We are so close to knocking down this brick wall. Our match group on the Reynolds DNA project goes back to John Reynolds and Mary Wood.

Will try to provide any other info anyone would need. I have more records on all of these guys but i didn't want to muddy the waters with too much.

Thanks Karen,

You are wonderful to help so many people. Just curious how long you have been doing Wikitree, and what was your main goal when you started? I have hopefully made my profile public. I seem to have been thinking I am making it public, but it does not indeed make it public. One more question....

So isn’t “ yourdna portal “ website, the tool to help you upload our GEDmatch relatives? Weaver-12554 - is my 85 year old mom for whom my goal on Wikitree is to prove through DNA relatives, that her Grandpa was a Pless surname.

I have been able to prove the Pless surname is indeed my moms Grandpa’s name in Ancestry through DNA. I am having a difficult time trying to get my DNA matches from GEDmatch, Ancestry to Wikitree. Thanks
