WILLEM_MEYER: My cousin Meyer Ardendoff kindly sent a copy of our Meyer family tree together with a wonderful biography depicting the early way of life of my ancestors dating back 7 generations to when Willem Meyer disembarked a sailing ship circa 1685 in the Kaap de Geode Hoop. I always thought my ancestors were Dutch but have since discovered that Willem Meyer was in fact German, and a soldier employed by the British East India Company. I would love to try and discover more about Willem Meyer parents and other ancestral family members when he was a youngster, before leaving Germany all those centuries ago. GERMANY_ESSEN_BIRTHS_DEATHS_MARRIAGES_MILLITERY_BRITISH__EAST_INDIA_COMPANY: My late father Koos, Johannes, Jansen, Van Vuuren Meyer had friends and family who lived in the Eastern Cape, mainly in the vicinity of Bedford, Cookhouse, Adelaide, Tarkastad, Queenstown and Grahamstown areas. I rember as a youngster as a small boy aged around 6 staying in Adelaide with my Tante ( Aunt) Katie and my other Tante
