Beth Stephenson is of Swiss descent

I am an acupuncture physician and herbal apothecary. I love to travel. I did an Oriental Medicine residency in China. I also am a researcher. I truly enjoy discovering information about my ancestors. I am an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. I am also a lifetime member of the Jamestowne Society.

I have a goal to credit my Revolutionary War era ancestors with DAR service. My DAR membership number is 913898. Currently I have nine lineages proven to DAR standards:

William Jackson -

• He was living, unfortunately a bit too elderly to serve...

William Rhoads

• There were 3 William Rhoads/Rhodes/Rodes's that served with the Hillsborough Militia in North Carolina. He was surely one of these men. Which one?

Oliver McCashland

• He paid Loudoun County VA tax.... His service and residence are good. The lineage needs a little bit of work.

Jacob Wine

• Possibly fought in York County, Pennsylvania or Frederick County, Virginia

John Hines

• He may have fought in the Virginia 3rd under Reuben Briscoe. I haven't been able to find proof of residence yet.

Enoch Butler -

• He fought for Chester Co, PA militia and also paid tax. The lineage needs a little work.

George Grant

• He served with the Virginia 8th out of Fauquier Co, VA.... but was HE the correct father of Evan Grant?

Vincent Lake -

• He paid Virginia Supply Tax in Fauquier Co, VA. Same lineage issue as Grant and McCashland.

Rosannah Stuart McIlhaney

• Might have done something. (?) Son john McIlhaney was credited with the 1783 Supply Tax payment.

I am also working on creating family trees for my Swiss ancestors and their ancillary community. I am combing the Schaffhausen Archives church books for details and trying to get as much information sourced and linked into the wikitree as I can. Paternal relationship and lineage to Robert Hardesty is confirmed by a triangulated group consisting of Larry Stephenson GEDmatch A957320, Edwin Hardesty GEDmatch A339382, Laura Bell Skinner GEDmatch A633681 and Lannie Hardesty Hartman GEDmatch A875733. These descendants share a segment on Chromosome number 9. Edwin and Laura's shared segment is from 80,117,635 - 93,919,931, with a length of 21 cM. Their MRCA is Robert Hardesty. Larry's shared segment is 12.3 cM on the same segment, from 86,889,466 to 93,445,905. His MRCA with Edwin is also Robert Hardesty. His MRCA with Laura and Lannie is Robert Hardesty jr whose wife was Nancy Hopkins. Lannie Hardesty Hartman GEDmatch A875733 triangulates into this segment with 13.7 cM from 85,248,784 to 93,617,649. She also descends from son Robert Hardesty. (Although she is a 2nd cousin of Laura Bell Skinner, her relations to Larry and Edwin are more distant).

Paternal relationship and lineage to Robert Hardesty is confirmed by a triangulated group consisting of Virginia Stephenson Clegg GEDmatch A609811, Edwin Hardesty GEDmatch A339382, Zane Darland GEDmatch A944705 and Jon Williams GEDmatch A052615. Edwin and Virginia share 23.8 cM of DNA on chromosome 18. Zane and Jon each triangulated with Edwin and Virginia on different segments: Edwin, Zane and Virginia share a 9.1 cM segment on Chromosome Number 18 from 68,326,989 to 71,067,174. Virginia descends from Robert's son Robert Hardesty, Edwin descends from Robert's son Thomas, and Zane descends from Robert's son Edmund. Also on chromosome 18, Hardesty descendant Jon Williams GEDmatch A052615 shares 12 cM from 52,994,010 to 59,576,359 with Edwin. Virginia's DNA triangulates into an 8.1 cM piece of this same segment. (Virginia is Larry's sister.)

Paternal relationship to Vincent Lake is confirmed by a triangulated group consisting of Danny J**** GEDmatch A603411, Larry Stephenson GEDmatch A957320, and Rick M**** GEDmatch A552338. Their MRCA is Vincent Lake. Danny descends from Vincent Lake's son Elias Lake. Larry descends from Vincent Lake's daughter Abigail Lake McCashland. Rick descends from Vincent Lake's son William Lake. The shared segment is on chromosome number 7. Rick and Danny share 12.2 cM from 96807099 to 109054772. Larry matches with 12.5 cM on the same segment from 96807099 to 109422220 with Danny. Larry also shares 20.8 cM with Rick from 85088091 to 108506370. Also triangulating into the group are Stephenson siblings Charles GEDmatch A449654 and Virginia GEDmatch A609811. Larry's daughter, Beth GEDmatch A551014, also shares 7.5 cM of DNA on this segment.

Trangulation Effort is underway. Seeking a triangulation group. The first two legs of a trangulation to Vincent Lake and Ann Unknown consisting of Scott Kendall GEDmatch T883903 and Beth Stephenson GEDmatch A551014 sharing a 10.8 cM segment on chromosome 2 is established. Seeking another cousin with a distance of third cousin or further to complete this triangulation. (Note that Ruth Deitsch GEDmatch A684843 is second cousin to Beth and triangulates into this segment from 238,531,798 - 242,656,041 on chromosome 2. Also, Scott's aunt and Beth's father both share the same segment.)

• Maternal relationship is confirmed by 54 cM matching DNA between third cousin descendants in 2 family groups: Group A is Cindy Ehrman Jacobs and her brother Robert Ehrman. Group B is Joella Lehrman Stephenson and her brother Donald Lehrman and her daughter Beth Stephenson. These DNA profiles are on both ancestry.com and FTDNA.
