Celebrating their golden wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. James H.Sargent are to hold open house in their home at Linton, Saturday from 4 until 9pm(DST). She is a siter of Grover Heacock

Miss Heacox, whose parents were Mr and Mrs. Perry Heacox of the Augusta community in Pike county, and James Sargent son of Jasper and Mary (Adkins) Sargent, were married May 13, 1905 at Winslow by a Methodist minister.

In a covered wagon, the present Mrs. Sargent, at the age of 10, with brothers and sister and her parents drove to Dudley Mo. The family returned to Indiana.

Born on October 17, 1887, she was 17 when she became a bride.

Her bridegroom, son of a family of four boys and three girls, a native of McCammeron township, Martin county, was born June 26, 1886. They attended separate rural schools.

Linton has been their home, with the exception of 18 months since they started housekeeping immediately after vowing to "cherish and to hold."

From 1928 until 1930, during which time they resided in Wayne, Mich. Mr Sargent was employed by the Graham-Paige Motor concern.

On returning to the Greene county metropolis, he began working in a coal mine December 7, 1900 With the exception of the period he worked in Michigan, Mr. Sargent continued that trade until 1945

At that time he was appointewd district road superintendent by the Indiana Highway commission, a position he held for four years. From then until his recent retirement he worked for the Michael Stripping company at "Carson" hill and at Clemco desk plant Bloomfield.

Honors which have come his way include eight years on the Greene County Welfare board, four years on the Greene County council and Republican precinct committeeman and election to membership in a Free and Accepted lodge of Masons, and its Scottish Rite, Shrine and Eastern Star branches. Mrs Sargent is a Star. Both are Bapists.

The have five children, Arthur, Yuma Ariz Ray, Brighton, Mich Mrs. Raymond Martin, Linton Mrs Herbert Alsman, Wayne

seven grandchildren and on great grandchild.

He has two bothers, Hobart, Bloomington and Donald, Linton

Mrs. Sargent has another brother, Orville Heacox, Jeffersonville; and five sisters, Mesdames Andrew S.Allen, Linton Earl Dickman and May Sulmann, St.Louis Rowne Cole, St Geneva, Mo Mrs. Talpha Hert, Bicknell.
