John Bonville arms

This is a photo from Petrocstowe Church, but the window has been moved and the arms were reversed, per The Yeo Society website. This means that the bend should be a "bend sinister," showing illegitimacy. In the 1564 Visitation of Devon, the arms of the great-grandson of John Bonville, the "natural" (illegitimate) son of Lord William Bonville, are given as sable, six mullets (stars) pierced gules (with a red dot in the middle), a bend sinister (a diagonal band starting at the left shoulder of the man holding the shield). The photo shows a "bend dexter" starting at the right shoulder.
