Le Portrait dans l'histoire du pays de Luxembourg, par Raymond Weiller, edition 1983 en collaboration du Musée de l'Etat du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg. No artist attributed. Maximilien is depicted standing in a three quarters profile, in his military uniform, his right hand holding his sceptre, the left resting on the pommel of his sword. To the left on a table rests his helmet decorated with feathers. To the right is his wife, Marie de Bourgogne, standing also in a three quarters profile, wearing a double fur lined brocade, her right hand holding her necklace of a crucifix, the left holding a document. Behind them can be seen the battlements of a town in front of the hills.
