This document claims Shernick family descent from a Russian Duke whose brother was a famous general in charge of Russia's war against Turkey. This is a garbled reference to Duke Konstantine Petrovich of Oldenburg, whose children were the Counts von Zarnekau, and whose brother-in-law, Gen. Nicholai Nicholaevich Romanov (1831 - 1891) was in charge of Russia's Army of the Danube during the Russo-Turkish war of 1877 to 1878. See the Wikipedia article "Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich," which clearly indicates he married Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna of Oldenburg, the sister of Duke Konstantine Petrovich.
