Thanks Karen, I think the children were used to dressing up for Grandfather Reeves to take their photos, so they didn't mind, they all lived in the house attached to the studio at that time. Also because the photographer was not a stranger it wasn't frightening. I think a lot of children were scared of the big black cloth they used to put over the cameras then and they sometime looked unhappy because they had to keep still for so long, which is never easy for a child!

So darling and he looks like he doesn’t mind his outfit. My grandfather had similar clothes but looked like he was in pain for the portraits.
