The six mortuary chests in Winchester Cathedral are thought to contains the mortal remains of Cynegils d643, Cynewulf d786, Ecbert d839, Aethelwulf d858, Eadred d955, Edmund Ironside d1016, Cnut d1035, Emma d1052, William Rufus d1100, Archbishop Stigand d1072, Bishop Alfwyn d1047 and Bishop Wini d670.
