Maansell Lacy has the alternative spelling of Mansel Lacy. The boy in the centre of the front row is holding a board which reads 'Mansel Lacy National School'.

In Mansel Lacy School James and Susan Porter were the only teachers. They are standing one each side of the children.

James was appointed headmaster in 1879, their daughter was born in 1895 and this photo was taken somewhere between those two dates.
