Neat to see. Marion's Great-Great Grandfather, Jeremiah Whitney I, was brother to my 6th Great-Grandfather, Eliasaph Whitney. My last Whitney is Eliasaph's Granddaughter, Elizabeth (Whitney) Wetmore. Her Father was Sylvanus.

So since Eliasaph was your 6th GGF, and his brother Jeremiah was my 5th GGF, looks like our common ancestor would be their father Nathan - your 7th and my 6th GGF respectively. Making us 7th cousins once removed. Nice to meet you, William! How cool to find another Whitney cousin! especially since most Whitneys I come across seem to be the John Whitney line rather than our Henry Whitney line.

Hi. I still wonder if our Whitney's go back to Eli Whitney's family.

I think my 3rd Great-Grandfather, Elizabeth's son, was name for Henry. Definitely after her Father, too. My Great-Grandfather, Henry, also shares this name with his Grandfather. Henry Sylvanus Wetmore. It is really amazing to see that photo full of people I never knew about (and now do) and that I am related to. Thank you for sharing it. The Whitney's sure have an amazing lineage. And...that lineage tend to overlap among my other ancestors. Heh. 8)

Scanned from my Whitney family photo collection. This is a photo of the 1909 Whitney family reunion held at the home of M. Eugene and Susan (Hammond) Whitney in the town of Yorkshire, county of Cattaraugus, NY.
