Original case-Circuit Court of Covington County, Alabama 07 Mar 1883: John A. Franklin vs. John L. Jones and Sandford Jones. In favor of Franklin for $75 from John L. Jones.
July 1885-Frank B. Jones filed a suit against John A. Franklin, stating that the bay horse John was awarded in lieu of the $75 for the 1883 suit belonged to him and not to John L. Jones.
04 Mar 1886 the court ruled in favor of John A. Franklin and as a result Frank B. Jones to his case up to the Supreme Court, which upheld the ruling.
