Biography

John Cochran was born in 1558 in Fernois, Paisley, Renfrewshire District, Scotland, son of John Cochran (~1529 - 1613) and Mary (Lindsey) Cochran (~1530 - ).

His siblings were:

  1. Hugh Cochran (1553 - 1645)
  2. James Cochran (1555 - 1620)

John married Unknown unknown (1554 - ). Their children were:

  1. Hugh Cochran (1578 - )
  2. John Cochran (1580 - ).

John married Agnes Rennie (~1545 - ).

John died in Carrikeel, Antrim Co., Province of Ulster, Ireland.

John emigrated from Scotland to Greblen, Ireland where he was employed by the Lord of Straban as a Salmon fisherman. He unfortunately ran up a significant enough debt as to be apprehended and forced to leave Griblen. His sons Hugh and James rescued him and they traveled by foot to the Foughen waters where he was protected and employed by Lord Askain.[1]
