William was born in 1560 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England, the son of James Phelps and Joan. He was baptized at Tewkesbury on 4th Aug 1560. [1]
William and Dorothy had the following children baptised at Tewkesbury:
In 1592 and 1595, William was one of the churchwardens of Tewkesbury. [2]
William served as one of the Bailiffs of Tewkesbury in 1607/1608. He apparently also made an unsuccessful attempt at the position in the following year, and as a consequence was entirely expelled from the body corporate! [3]
William died on 28 Sept 1611 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England. He was 51 yrs of age.
William died intestate and the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, on Sept. 28th, 1611, commissioned to Dorothy Phelps, "relict of William Phelps, late of Tewkesbury, deceased, to administer the goods and chattels of the said deceased." [4]
