Cornelis Ennes b. 5 Nov 1761. No baptism record was found due to the poor quality of the central Reformed Church at Machackemeck (Deerpark), Orange County New York source. "The Manuscript from 1760 to 1771 is so poor that in many instances the copying is mere guesswork." Note: p. 147.

Note N00237: from Calvin Emory:
served in the Revolutionary War in the Northampton County (PA) Militia as a private, and later as a soldier of the Continental line. He was a Ranger on the Frontier in Capt Henry Shoemaker's Company, receiving depreciation pay for his service. His gravestone also notes service in the New York Militia. He is listed as a Freeholder in Walpack Twp in 1812. He moved in 1816 from Sussex Co, NJ to Standing Stone, PA, where he engaged in farming until his death. His name appears on the tax list for 1817 in Wysox, of which Standing Stone was then a part. In one account he is reported to have frozen his feet while assisting Washington's troops in crossing the Delaware River on Christmas Eve at the time of the Battle of Trenton. The old Ennis family cemetery where he is buried is located in Standing Stone on the former Guy French farm, behind the Universalist Church building. (now a community center)
