Biography

Sarah was born circa 1851 in Canada. She was a daughter of Arthur Adams and Sarah Ann (Honess) Adams.

In 1851, her family was living in Ingersoll, Ontario where her father worked as labourer.

In 1855, they moved to the United States and settled in Port Huron, Michigan where her father worked in a saw mill.

She married Almon Johnston Holmes on November 23, 1870 in Port Huron. They also settled their and raised a family of their own. Almon worked as a Marine Engineer.

They had at least 15 children, however many died in infancy.

By 1900, they were living in Detroit. Her husband Almon passed away that year. He was interred at the Lakeside Cemetery in Port Huron.

Sarah passed away on December 23, 1922 in Royal Oak, Michigan.[1]
