John, son of George Lanphear, was born about 1681, married Ruth ______[1] about 1702 and had ten children.[2]
John died between 21 November 1740 and 30 May 1757.[2]
"John Lanphear, son of George Lanphere, lived in Westerly, Rhode Island, where he died in 1757. His will was dated March 31, 1730 and proved May 30, 1757 in Westerly[3], his son Daniel being executor. He bequeathed to his wife, to sons John, Daniel, Amos and Nathan, and to daughters Anna Lewis, Ruth Shaw, Experience Satterly, Mary, Patience, and Keziah Lanphear. He married Ruth _________, who died after 1730."[4]
John Lanphere has a FindAGrave Memorial, yet the burial details are unknown. The memorial has a death date of 30 May 1757.[5]
"Lanphear is an ancient Rhode Island family name, this branch tracing to George Lanphear, who was of Westerly, Rhode Island, in 1669. He bought land in that year, took the oath of allegiance in 1671, was baptized in 1678, and had two hundred acres laid out to him in 1704. He died October 6, 1731. The name of his wife is unknown.
"From George Lanphear the line of descent is through his son, John Lanphear, who was a resident of Westerly, Rhode Island, and there died in 1757. His wife, Ruth, died in 1730, the next in line being their son, Nathan.[7]
Additional Biographical Information
"The surname of Ann has never been proven, although information is advanced by some that she was the daughter of John and Ruth. John's will, probated May 30, 1757, names his father as George Lanphere, and his daughters Anna Lewis, Ruth Shaw, Experience Satterly, as well as Mary, Patience and Keziah Lanphere, and sons John, Daniel, Amos and Nathan. It has been pointed out, however, that there would seem to be too great a difference in age possibility here, but nothing has been found otherwise to identify the Lewis who married Anna (Lanphere) Lewis."[6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Can someone please remove the Project Protection from this account? It is producing an "921 PPP Without Project Account and without ProjectBox" error. Thank you.
I've added another source. It is a secondary source and doesn't add anything new to this profile, but it may still be useful for some of his descendants who may have somewhat scarcer sourcing.
Also, his daughter Anna, mentioned in the biography isn't linked above as a child.
