Biography
William Proude married Rose Serlys.
He died in 1574 and was buried 23 July 1574 St. Gregory and St. Martin Church Wye. He was described as the elder in the burial parish records.[1]

Will: beneficiary in brother in law's will William Serlys written 30th June 15XX and proved 14th Nov 1539.[2]
Will: beneficiary in brother in law's will Robert Searles of Wye written 28 Jan 1568. Described as brother and husband of sister Rose Prowde. [3]

The visitation of Kent : taken in the years 1619-1621 by John Philipot, Rouge Dragon, Marshal and Deputy to William Camden, Clarenceux by Camden, William, 1551-1623; Philipot, John, 1589?-1645; Hovenden, Robert, 1830-1908; Harleian Society - Shows William Proude son of John and husband of Rose Serlys of Wye. Sons of William are Henry and Serle Proude.
The Genealogist: Selby, Walford Dakin 1845-1889 Page 274 - "Prude als Proude: William Prude als Proude of Waltham Kent married Quere whom William his son viz Willm Prude als Proude of Waltham praedict married Rose dau of John Serlys of Wye in Kent.
The said William had by Rose aforesaid 6 sons viz Thomas, Henrie, John, Willm, Sampson, Serlis Prude als Proude of St Alphage within Canterbury Anno 1583 which Serlis married Anne dau & coheire of William Pyne of Chilham Kent. The 3 daus of William Proude were first Ellen who was the marr to Rich Wood of Waltham, 2 Bettrice mar Tho Balden of Braborne in Kent, 3 marr to William Gates of Wie Kent."

There is another profile for William Proude, Proude-6. Proude-6 has wife Rose Serlys and son Serlys Proude. I think these 2 William Proudes are the same person.

Unlikely that William was of London. William was definately alive in 1568 as he was mentioned in brother in law's will Robert Searles of Wye written 28 Jan 1568. Described as brother and husband of sister Rose Prowde.
