Amelia was the d/o Nathaniel Penfield (1732-1777) and Lydia Barnes (1735-1791).
Amelia first married Samuel Dickinson marriage date 1786-11-16 New Haven New Haven CT. USA.
She then married Eben Thompson (1755-1848) marriage date 1804-01-23 Farmington CT. USA
As her third husband she married Ben Steele ( b: 1762) marriage date 1827-11-26 Farmington CT. USA[citation needed]
If Amelia died in 1814, before then husband Eben Thompson died, she could not have married Ben Steele in 1827. On the other hand, Humphreys mentions her in the context of her daughter's marriage thusly: "Eliza Azubah (dau. of Eben and Amelia Steele) Thompson, of Farmington, Ct." So there appears to be some connection with the Steele surname.
