Biography

Frances Drury was born on 29 June 1532, daughter of William Drury and Elizabeth Sothill.[1]

A recusant. she and some of her children, Prudence, Mary and Audry are listed as such in the State Paper Office, 2 James I. [2]

She died 12 June 1609, recorded on the memorial to James Hobart and Frances (Drury) Hobart in Loddon Church, Loddon, Norfolk, England.[3]

Research note

Harvey's Visitation of Suffolk gives her as wife of James Hubert of Norfolk.[4]

Harvey's Visitation of Norfolk in the year 1563 on page 62 has an error stating that Frances died in 1621, which is incorrect.

I am working on the profile of Sir William Drury MP Drury-43 on behalf of the Magna Carta Project, and am now working on the children, one being Frances. The stone memorial at Loddon Church is very clear and should supercede any error made in Visitations. If there is an issue with my edit aside from minor formatting corrections, let me know. Thank you!!

Hello Pamela

I will send you a Trusted List request on behalf of the England Project, to give Project Protection to Frances Drury Hobart's marriage to James Hobart (rather than Thomas Hobart).

Please contact me if you have any questions about this. Best wishes, Jo. (England Project Managed Profiles team coordinator)
