Note: In his will, dated 5 Aug 1896, James wishes his brother, William, and sisters Matilda, Lilly, and Essy to occupy and possess the homestead farm, until William comes of the age of 21, at which time, the farm is to be sold, with the proceeds to payany debts which James may have incurred. His sister, Mary Ann Baxter, is to receive forty dollars, Margaret Jane, to receive fifty dollars, and the remainder is to be divided equally between the siblings. His property was valued at $3,845. The farm was on the east half, lot 15, Concession 5, in Otonabee.
