Ann was a sister of Angus MacIsaac who settled at what is today known as MacIsaac's Pond. Angus was the first permanent resident of Broad Cove arriving around 1805 from PEI. About the same time that Roderick arrived another brother, Allan MacIsaac, also arrived. Angus was granted 455 acres,his brother Allan received 470 acres and Roderick MacLean, 472 acres. These three properties occupied the entire area surrounding the present day village of Inverness.
