Richard Henry O'Bryan was born on 30 August 1876 at Jamieson River, Victoria, Australia, the son of Annie (Morrison) O'Bryan and Mark O'Bryan.^[1]

He married Elizabeth Prater in 1908 in Victoria.^[2] Their children were:

• Minnie O'Bryan (1914–2002)
