Birth

John William Hanger was born on 23 Dec 1850 in Picton, New South Wales, Australia, son of Henry Hanger (~1816 - 1897) and Mary (Dooling) Hanger (1830 - 1912).

Marriage

John married Annie Maria Smith (1859 - 1941) on 1 Aug 1883 at St Mark Church of England, in Wentworth, New South Wales. His residence at the time of marriage was given as Menindie, Western NSW.

Children

Their children were:
  1. Harry Victor Hanger (1884 - 1967)
  2. Jack Stanley Hanger (~1892 - 1974).

Death

John died on 12 Mar 1929 at the District Hospital in Camden, New South Wales aged 78.[1]

Burial

He was buried 14 Mar 1929 at St Thomas' Cemetery, Narellan, NSW, Australia.

Research Notes

There was a story I was told that he was "associated with the Broken Hill Company". However his occupation is "Hawker".
Another story was that he fought in the Boer War. Australian Army archives failed to confirm this. He would be about 50 if he did.
Father's details seem to be omitted from the marriage certificate, though father was still alive at the time.
