The Record of the Marriage of John Paine Esqr to Betsey Smith the Daughtor of Ebenr Smith Esqr, the sd John & Betsey were married November 13th 1805 and the Names of their Children as follows:[1]

Albert was graduated from Yale in 1841. He studied theology at Andover, Yale and Auburn Seminaries. He was Resident Licentiate in Andover in 1848 and was ordained Sept. 7, 1848. He was pastor at West Amesbury (now Merrimac) Mass., 1848-54, at North Adam 1856-62, and hospital chaplain at Fortress Monroe 1862. From 1864-67 he was editor and proprietor of the Beloil Journal (Wisconsin). Then he was a bookseller at Rockford, Ill., 1867-71. REV. ALBERT PAINE (John, Daniel, Daniel, Samuel, Stephen, Stephen), born at East Woodstock, Conn., July 21, 1819; married Nov. 30, 1849, at So. Amesbury, Sarah Sargent of Merrimac, Mass., daughter of Patten and Dolly (Sargent) Sargent. The old Paine homestead in East Woodstock is now owned by the widow of John Merrick Paine. Tradition claims that Washington once stopped there, host Captain Chandler. As a boy, Albert attended district school. When fifteen years of age he went to Munson Academy, Mass., Sanford Lawton, Master. Later to Dudley Academy; returned to Munson under Rev. Austen. Went to Plainfield, Conn., under John Witter. Then to Yale for four years, graduated at twenty-two. Then to Andover Seminary for one year; to New Haven one year; Auburn, N. Y., one year (Auburn Theological Seminary). Supplied one year near Buffalo at Lancaster. He settled in Merrimac for about five years. Married in 1849, settled in No. Adams, Mass., for six years. Supplied many times. Chaplain at Fortress Monroe in 1862 for several months, then ill and returned home. Chelsea during two war years. Beloit, editor of Beloit Journal, a weekly. Rockford, Ill., three or four years, book store. Charlestown 1870 to 1881. Supplied in Falmouth several years, until sight of eye was lost in 1878. Moved to Roxbury in 1881. Member of Immanuel Congregational Church, valued and beloved. His patience, fortitude and sweetness of resignation under total blindness a lesson, teaching what Christian faith can do.
