John was born in 1641.
Research note #1: An earlier addition to this profile said "One document states her father as John, another one states her father Edward Dension". But no documents were cited. Apparently the "her" is Sarah Eliot, who married James Harrisin New London in 1666. She previously was connected as this John Denison's daughter, Sarah Denison Harris, Eliot. However, an article by Gale Ion Harris makes a convincing case that the Sarah who married James Harris was born an Eliot, daughter of Jacob Eliot and his wife Margery. Therefore, she has been disconnected from this profile, as she apparently has no connection to any Denison. A merge of her profile with Sarah Eliot has been proposed. Halsey Bullen, 24 Sep 2020.
Research Note #2: This profile has no sources supporting the existence of this Rev. John Denison. Quite a few other men called John Denison lived in 17th century Massachusetts and Connecticut, but no Rev. John Denison who died about 1715 has been found in any vital record or any of the several published genealogical studies that looked into the Denison family. The only one who was a minister, Rev. John Denison, was born in 1665 to [[Denison-1772 |John Denison, graduated at Harvard 1684, married Elizabeth Saltonstall, had one son Lt. Col. John Denison and died in 1689, all in Ipswich, Massachusetts Bay. See linked profiles for sources and other facts about various John Denisons. So it seems possible that this unsourced profile of a man who purportedly died in New London in 1715 has no basis in fact. Halsey Bullen, 24 Sep 2020.
