Thomas Leit of Eastern Tickle, Fogo, aged 78 years old, died Feb 15 1889, and was buried in Feb 18 1889.[1]
There seems to be a confusion in several family trees among different families of Laite/Leyte/Leit in Newfoundland and England.
There was one family, reasonably well documented, in Trinity, with a Thomas Late born ca 1822, son of George Laite and Mary Dewy, and married to an Ann.[2]
There is a different family, of a Thomas Leyte born ca 1818, married to a Mary Randell, living in Fogo, and died Feb 15 1889.[3] Various other family trees (mostly Ancestry) have this Thomas born in Devon England, to a William and Elizabeth, and name a dozen children---but the records provided don't make much sense (the births, baptisms and parents' locations are registered in England).
The Thomas Leyte with a family in Fogo was apparently married to a Mary Randell, he was probably born ca 1818, and died in 1889 in Fogo. Thomas and Mary had several documented children. But beyond that there isn't much evidence for his birthplace, parents, or siblings.
