Translation of German Obituary

Justina Sprenger, nee Schultz, was born 20 May 1836 in Kulm, Bessarabia, South Russia, and died 8 July 1917 near Leipzig, N. Dak. She thus brought her age to 81 years, 1 month, 18 days. Notable aspects of her life are that she was happily married for 60 years and 4 months less 4 days; that she had a living connection to the Lord for 40 years, and for 8 years hosted the [parish] assembly in her home. In the last years of her life the deceased was heavily plagued by weakness due to old age, but she remained in possession of her faculties and could console herself with her accumulated treasure of bible sayings and songs. After a hard struggle she went in peace. Her burial was attended by a large crowd of members of our community and many strangers. Looking forward to a reunion in our home above [i.e., heaven] are the husband (aged 83 years), 2 sons, 1 daughter, 40 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Paul Krumbein, Minister[4]
