Welcome to WikiTree. Wow that is amazing to find out you are related to our President! Wish I could find a connection in my tree.
I noticed your comment about sources, the 'good' vs the 'bad' and want you to be comfortable adding whatever sources you may have. There are no 'bad' sources.
Sources can be "primary" (made at the time of the event), or "secondary" (someone added the information later, maybe much later).
Sources can also be from say, a book which offers little evidence for the facts, or from a book which carefully cites all facts, going to the primary sources first.
Our knowledge of our ancestors is much richer for having sources other than primary sources, we just need to discern the facts from the tall tales:)
Robert, Thanks for proposing the merge of Lee-13601 and Lee-2393. It looks like you added some specific information -- can you add in the sources for those? Tom

After finding out I am distantly related to Barack Obama through Edward "The Pilgrim" Fitz Randolph, I decided to dig deeper and try to prove the family story about being related to Robert E Lee.

We have mentors to help, too.
Welcome!
