Dear Hannah: Susan Clevenger is my gg grandmother; her son, James (1849-1924) is my g grandfather who homesteaded in Crivitz, WI. Other Venters brothers were also in the area, mainly in Langlade County. In the Antigo Cemetery, Antigo, WI, I found the grave of Susan Venters who died in 1893. I believe this is our Susan Clevenger Venters. I will try to find some cemetery records, but I suspect there are none for that time period. (Wisconsin does not have death records for this time.) Shortly after this when homesteading opened in northern Idaho, James and some brothers and their families homesteaded in Winchester, Idaho. They are on the 1900 and 1910 U.S. Census records. In 1910 there was a huge forest fire near St. Maries, ID, where George M. Venters, Jr., lived. George Martin Venters, Sr., remarried/divorced there and returned to Kentucky where he died. These were real pioneers, coming west on the new railroad whose terminus was at Union, WA. I have a photo of Susan and one of a young George, Sr., if you would like me to send you a photo copy. Your cousin, Kay Barmore, Edmonds, WA, [email address removed]

Hi Hannah,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. It looks like you are already doing most of the things recommended by the After Adopting Orphans FAQ. We really appreciate you becoming the caretaker of profiles!

It looks like you're doing fine with the GEDCOM you recently uploaded. One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that I found very helpful. You might find a tip or two in there that will be useful.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let us know by using the "reply" link under our comments or by clicking our names to visit our profiles. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.
