Biography

Benjamin was born before 1808 in Greenville, South Carolina. Benjamin Barton, Jr and his 2 brothers settled in the Stephen F Austin colony in Texas in 1828 after living in Kentucky and Alabama. They lived away from others, at a place known today as Barton Springs. He was killed in the Church Hill Battle in 1844 after a group of 225 Moderators attacked 62 Regulators from Shelbyville, TX, who were reinforced by prominent citizens of Harrison County, including the Bartons.[1]

Benjamin's burial details are unknown. He died in Hallsville, Harrison, Texas on 8 Oct 1843. [2]
