I am trying to trace my mom's family the Wests from Tennessee, there is such confusion about Thomas West b 1735 or 1740 married to Rachel Oliphant, parents I have is Thomas and Sarah Matthews, some people have Joseph and Jane Owen, any help would be appreciated.
I sent a message to you about the Pancoast merge, but realized after approving the merge that my note was not needed, as the changes could be made right then. I hope you agree with the changes I made. Welcome to the family, and to WikiTree.
best regards,
April Dauenhauer
PS Sorry -- I confused the names of Elizabeth and Jane in the note - apologizing for the confusion:(
I agree completely with the fact that there are multiple William, Samuel, John, and Adams in North Carolina that makes it very difficult to discern who belongs with whom. I was given Stafford Branch 186 from the Stafford Society. I will forward a copy of that to you. It is wrong. This was what I based my origninal research on until this past weekend. I have emailed you a copy of the affidavit for Revolutionary War Pension for Adam's elder son John.
Hello Joe, Adam is the son of John Stafford of Dorchester, Maryland. Adam, his father John, and his son John are not descended from William Stafford III and Jane Brown. Sorry if I didn't communicate well. Adam is in John Stafford 1 of Dorchester, Maryland as well. I just got EXTEMELY lucky with help from a geneologist who works a lot with North Carolina, Bob Baird. He found the Revolutionary War Pension request for my third great grandfather John Stafford who was the elder son of Adam in Adam's will. The pension request is about 65 pages of family information. I've used three or four sites and a Society specific to the surname Stafford. My line was all wrong on all of them, especially my immediate grandparents and great grandparents whose information I knew personally.
Hi Joe, Can you provide your sources for the parents of http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bernard-55? The parents profiles do not indicate a daughter named Margaret, and her birth is much later than the other children. The parents are part of the Magna Carta project.
