William is a linguist, with a passion for language and grammar. He studied French from grade 5, and started Latin and Greek in grade 9 after seeing the movie Boy on a Dolphin. He continued in classics at Carleton University (Ottawa) and then Cambridge (UK), where he added another B.A., and M.A. and an M. Litt. He studied some Spanish and a little German as well. His first univeristy instructor job was in South Africa 1972-1976 (apartheid era still at that time) before he returned to Canada.
When Latin teaching positions fizzled, he underwent teacher training and taught grade 4 for two years, including French. When that too fizzled, he trained as a computer programmer, and worked in IT for 17 years. Eventually he taught computer science, ESL, co--op and English in adult ed, hugely enjoying being a teacher again.
William's greatest passions, apart from language, are music and cats (his children). He has sung second bass in various choral groups, church and otherwise, for decades, specializing in renaissance and baroque repertoire, as well as plainsong. He has a huge interest in cosmology, evolution, history, social and political matters, and is thus a CBC, TVO, NPR and PBS fan.

Her profile is Warfield-8. You can locate your relationship to a person by tapping the Genealogical Relationship area at the bottom of each profile, if they have an established tree
I think we are related through our Best lines. Mine were a Danville, Pennsylvania branch and the family knew of brothers who settled "nort of Frontenac" in Canada which I believe is your branch. Something to explore.
I hope You agree to the merge of the Savage Girls (5850 & 1789) As a Crittenden, I fully endorse this !!!!

I know that duplicates often don't appear when we are creating a new profile during the 1500-1700 time period because birth dates are often estimated and can vary. I often find it helpful to assume that most profiles during that period will already be on Wikitree, and do a fairly thorough search before creating any new profiles. With a name like Mallory that doesn't have too many profiles, It can even be a good idea to just do a search for the surname, and then sort the list by birth date or name. Thank you
Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
Shirley Dalton, WikiTree Mentor
I proposed many merges of duplicate profiles. These are ones that already existed in WikiTree before you created new ones for them.
We strive to have only one profile per person.
We use the People Search feature to check if a profile exists for a person before creating a new one.
If you need help, just give a shout.
Thanks, and have a spiffy day!
I see you are getting along great on WikiTree. Thank you for your contributions.
Please know that we provide Sources for the information we post on profiles. We agree to do so when we sign the honor code. Genealogy without sources is meaningless. When a profile is created or when information is added, a Source supporting that information is also added.
Please stop and take a moment to review this WikiTree help page before creating more un-sourced profiles: Sources
