  • First-hand information. Entered by James Dilts Sr at registration.

I was born in the pre second World War Era when most families still had the old Ice Boxes for refrigeration and used coal stoves for cooking and heat, with very little too no insulation for homes. The year was November 4, 1937 at Lynn Hospital( no longer standing) when I made an appearance. My parents were living in a small apartment and needed more space for me so they moved to an apartment on Nahant Street , near the downtown area of Lynn. in September of 1940 my sister Beverly was born and again we moved to a larger place which was a 3story house and we had the first floor and my Dad Changed jobs to be closer to us. He was a Milk Salesman(Milkman) with a fair size route, worked for Hood's Milk Co. which is still in business . On Dec 7, 1941 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor my Dad joined the US Army Air Corps and went to Basic Training then on to Officers Candidate School and upon Graduation was a 2nd Lieutenant and was assigned to the 20th Air Force Bomber Group In the China, India, Burma area. My Dad (Harry) flew many times over the Hump as an observer for the supply routes. During this period of my life the whole Country was doing all it could towards the War effort, and that meant most of the Moms went to work and we children were boarded out to Families willing to take us so our Moms and Dads could do their parts. If we were lucky we saw our Moms on the weekends. My sister Bev was lucky and stayed with one family, but I was boarded with several different Families while I went to school, I remember going to 4 different schools in First Grade, but was lucky enough to have one Family that took me for 2nd and 3rd grades of school, then I went to live with my Grandparents for the 4th grade and then the war ended. In 1946 my Mom and Dad bought a house (2 Family) on Chatham St in Lynn right next door to my Great Grandma Brackett's house. I finished Elementary, Jr High, and on to Lynn English High School where I played Football and ran Track. Then I did something that helped me when I went into the Air Force, and that was being part of the Lynn Public School Band as Color Captain of the Color Guard, and also for a Drum and Bugle Drum Corps VFW Post in Peabody, Mass, until I went into the US Air Force in Oct 1955. Took basic training at Sampson AFB, Outside Geneva, N.Y. the on to Tech School at Ft Belvoir, Va. Then I volunteered for overseas duty and was assigned to Kindley AFB in Bermuda from 1956 to April 1958, then on to Warner Robins AFB, Ga as part of the 14th Air Force (Flying Tigers), until Oct 1959. After my active duty stint i was placed on active reserve for 2 years. After the Air Force I drove truck for a couple of different companies until Spring of 1961 when I got a Driver/Salesman's job For E. Demakes Co, who processes meat products for stores, Mom and Pop to big Supermarkets, mostly in the Framingham, Mass areas until fall of 1963 when I was offered a job as Farm Manager of a Dairy and Apple Farm in Nova Scotia. This lasted until 1965 when I was injured in a hunting accident which left me unable to walk for 6 months, then after extensive physical Therapy I went to work for Maritime Tel and Tel Ltd as an Installer. I also met my wife Joyce while working for the Telephone co and got married in September 2, 1966. Then in fall of 1968 I got an offer to work for Northeast Airlines out of Boston, which I jumped at for that is the type of work I did in the Air Force (Did Weight and Balance of Aircraft). So in Oct 1968 took a test for Northeast Airlines and started work in Dec 1968 and retired from Delta Air lines Inc, who bought Northeast in 1972, until Jan 1993, in Houston, Texas. After leaving the Airlines Got an offer to work for my Brother Mel, who had an AAMCO Transmission business in Tucson, Az, as General Manager. So we moved in 1994 to Tucson, AZ and worked with Mel until he closed the business in 1999 due to declining business. I then went to work for the US Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier from 2000 till 2006 when I had a near fatal Accident with my Postal Vehicle that left me unable to work. We moved from Tucson in 2014 to the Texas Hill Country and Segovia, Tx where we live now and the story continues. In 2016 Joyce and I moves into the big, little City of Junction, Tx to be closer to our son Neil and his Family. We also follow our Granddaughters Sierra and Faith thru their school activities, Sierra, who is a straight "A" student and very active in the school sports program, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball and Track, and Faith with "4H' and Band, French Horn, which has been an award winning Band for many years.

Yes Mary, I wish to remain in the 1776 Project, but for the amount of time to be on the computer has been reduced for medical reasons, and am unable to remain seated for more than 30minutes at a time. If this disqualifies me from being in the project please let me know> Thank you Norm

Norm, Thank you for checking in. Try your limited time for the next 6 months. YOu can always make the decision without me telling you. Try for one goal (sticker or profile or source per 30 minutes, as for all of us, the time flies by.

Thanks for all you can do and your continued interest in the 1776 project.

Hello,

I am checking in on behalf of the 1776 Project to announce the new project membership requirements and to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. All project members are being asked to join one of the project teams and also to make at least one project contribution every 6 months. We are also asking all project members to join the project's Google Group for project communications.

If you are interested in remaining with the Project, please reply to this comment or send me a message, request to join the Google Group, and let us know what team you would like to participate on.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

If we don't hear back from you we will assume that you no longer wish to participate in the project and if so, you could rejoin at any time as is convenient for you.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

And this was my original note regarding Alexander Bezanson:

Bezanson-128 and Bezanson-30 appear to represent the same person because: They are the same person however the correct mother is Anna Maria Ley.

Yes the info on 128 needs to be corrected.

Also do NOT merge Lantz-468 and Lantz-234 yet.

Before this merge can proceed her father needs to be merged (Lantz-469 and Lantz-179) and her mother needs to be merged (Ewald-120 into Ewald-5).

Also, after you complete the merges you need to properly edit the Bio section so that it does not have a double, everything listed 2 times.
Norm, did you not read my note? Bezanson-30 and Bezanson-128 are the same person. I will correct the bio and dates after the merge. Azra
Norm, please slow down on making the Hiltz profiles. They are not sourced properly and spelling mistakes. A couple of examples: You have the wrong spelling of Catherine RAFUSE's last name and the wrong spelling of their daughters first name.
Welcome to the 1776 Project (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:1776), a subproject of the Military and War Project: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects#Military_and_War_Project

There are category links to add to your ancestor's profiles and research links to learn more about your family. The Project is a good way to consolidate the WikiTree ancestors with historic connections to the years of 1773 (Boston Tea Party) to 1789 (ratification of the U.S. Constitution.) All patriot, loyalist, Hessians, French, Native Americans or any other profiles with a connection to these years should be linked to an appropriate category in the Project.

If you haven’t already, please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include 1776 Project and any other tag terms that you wish to follow: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

Some categories have a template (SAR) to add at the top of a biography. If not, add a category link by putting the category name such as Template:1776 for those who bore arms in the Revolution and Template:1776 for those who contributed patriotic or civil service. Thank you.

Hi Norm. I think you are confused. The merge was not suggested for http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hiltz-202. The merge is for his father instead who has the exact same birth and death dates that http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hiltz-278 has. Please merge http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hiltz-278 and http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hiltz-203

Hi Norm,

What is your source for Susannah Eleanor (Unknown) Brackett's LNAB of Drake?

Also, for Elizabeth Cleeves-1, what is your source for her specific birth date, and the updated death date and place?

We'd like to have the sources for this information shown in the profile.

Thank you.

Thanks for the fast merge :) I added your book link in the correct fashion....and it is funny because the book was written by Vernon Keddy, my contact at the New Ross Historical Society :)
Hi Norm, we have a relative in common, David Hiltz...anyways I see you have created a profile for him...he has one already, so I am sending a merge request. Azra

Hiltz-304 is the same as Hiltz-242.....also some of the Hiltz line has already been added to Wiki, so you may want to double check when creating new profiles.
