He was noted as residing in Oswego in Beekman's Precinct in Dutchess County, New York in 1755 when he was enumerated in an census of Quakers in regard to service in the militia.[3] His profession was that of a farmer.[3]
He was disowned by the Oblong monthly meeting on 15d 7m 1762 [15 Jul 1762].[4]
The following passage is from Historical and Genealogical Record Dutchess and Putnam Counties:[5]
The oldest religious organization in the town [LA GRANGE] is that of the Society of Friends of Arthursburg. At this place was built a Friends' meeting house, and Oswego monthly meetings were held here as early as 1761. Samuel Dor-land and wife, Allen Moore and wife and Andrew Moore are recorded as being present at this meeting. Several Quaker families resided in this vicinity. Following the division in the Society in 1828 the Hicksites built a meeting house at Moore's Mills, where meetings are regularly held.

Notes
Quaker Calendar - There has been much confusion over the dates in Quaker records. Friends used numbered months and days rather than what they considered pagan names for them (i.e. "Thursday" coming from "Thor's Day"). Thus, when the secular calendar was changed in 1752, making January the first month instead of March, Friends began calling January "First Month".
